Acrobatics is FUN! It is also a discipline skill that can help build strength, stability and flexibility that can last a lifetime. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced student, acrobatics can offer a fun and challenging way to improve your physical and mental health, build confidence and self-esteem, and develop new skills and abilities.

This year we have added an extra day for all beginners and intermediate students plus extra strength and flexibility classes and a special kindy class for the younger students. For those wishing to improve on their skills they can take 2 classes a week plus strength and flexibility classes. 

We are so fortunate to have Merry Gillespie at Footwork Dance Australia this year. 

Merry-brings with her over 20 years of diverse experience in recreational, artistic, kinder gym, tumbling, judging in gymnastics & acrobatics. A seasoned competitor at the Senior International World Women’s Artistic Gymnastics level, she holds accreditations in all of these areas, ensuring technical proficiency. Merry’s background in educational assistance enhances her teaching approach, fostering both athletic and personal growth in her students.

Cait Parker: We are thrilled to annouce Cait will be teaching classical Ballet with FDA this year from kindy and preschool classes on Saturdays 4/5 years to 6 to 9 years in juniors 9 to 11 yrs and teen and pre-class and advance classical ballet, point plus technique classes on Thursdays for juniors and intermediate students. We welcome this talented teacher to Footwork Dance Australia

Ballet classes are so important for every child wanting to improve their dance technique. Yes, it takes discipline and patience. There are no quick fixes in ballet it takes time and persistence not giving up when rewards aren't immediate. This is a great skill to give your child in life that will help them into adulthood. 

For students that are serious about their dancing, It can be extremely difficult to fix “bad habits” you create over the years by not learning proper dance technique, not to mention competing with other dancers who have been studying ballet at length. Ballet gives you the basic arm and leg movements you need in other styles of dance. Gaining an understanding which helps you find your centre of balance, gains you strength and agility and performing movements with grace and confidence. Choreographers look for this technical capability. If you don’t have the technical training that comes from ballet, and your competition does you're at a disadvantage. 

It's never too late to start ballet training this year we have another wonderful classical teacher, Cait Parker. Discipline starts with mind set. How you approach and feel about your class. Miss Cait will insist upon correct grooming, including hair in bun and classical uniform only. The class ages and abilities have been separated more this year to give closer attention to individuals. Added technique classes are strongly encouraged for everyone taking dance classes. 

We are excited to announce Tess Lucas will be joining Footwork Dance Australia for 2025. Teaching advance tech classes, assisting with Senior Lyrical troupe and privates.. An accomplished young lady we welcome Tess to Footwork Dance Australia

Bio : My name is Tess and I recently moved back to Perth after living in Sydney for 3 years. In my years of living in Sydney I completed my diploma in professional dance (elite performance) at The Next Step Performing Arts, having the opportunity to be taught by some amazing industry professionals such as; Lauren Elton, Sophie Holloway, Gaynor Hicks, Jacob Yarr, Todd Williamson, Talia Fowler, and many more.

Whilst attending fulltime I have had the opportunity to dance for Amazon Prime at their private premiere of season 2 luxe listings introducing Monika Tu, as well as being the opening soloist act for Delta Goodrem on her Channel 9 Christmas Spectacular. I have also had the opportunity to dance in the Mardi Gras parade for Mini Cooper Australia under the direction of Ame Delves, as well as dancing on set of The Voice Australia for Guy Sebastian and Rita Ora. I have also had the privilege to star in promo videos for Ame Delves, Kris Lewis and Sheridan Mouawad.

PPA studio owner Rhiannon Longstaff will be joining our FDA amazing team of dance teachers.

We are so fortunate to welcome Rhiannon with her many years of dance experience and qualifications along with her gorgeous positive attitude toward nurturing dance students she will continue with FDA. Miss Rhiannon brings with her experience and knowledge of running and owning a dance school for 17 years at PPA which is so valuable also she has been the adjudicator at many eisteddfods over the years a member of in the ATOD syllabus. Please lets make Miss Rhiannon welcome and part of our dance family along with new students and new dance families to our school this year. I have bragged a little how wonderful and supportive you all are x

On Saturdays Rhiannon teachers wiggle and Giggle tots 2YRS to 4YRS. tiny tot jazz and Tap. primary jazz and tap and primary lyrical /contemporary. Tuesdays recreational classes in lyrical contemp and jazz for teens and open tap classes. Wednesday primary recreational lyrical / contemporary and an Adult Rhi’s creations this class is tongue in check FUN! you will have to come along a try. PLEASE LET YOUR FRIENDS KNOW.
